For The Men

Well friends... it's all over for another year! The NHL playoffs are over and the Stanley Cup has been won. I must admit, even though I cheered on the Canucks through the majority of the playoffs... I'm happy to see the Bruins win... because it means that B is happy. Things just worked out perfectly!

I thought that today, in honour of all of the hockey loving men in our lives, oh yeah... and I guess with Father's Day being right around the corner as well, I'd share a little man cave inspiration. I'm a big believer in the fact that man caves can be everything our men dream of... without being done in poor taste. If the rest of our homes are beautiful, I think our man's spaces can be done tastefully as well!

I'm pretty sure B would love a room like this. A place to hang out with his friends, drink some beers, display his sports memorabilia and watch every single Boston sports game on TV (since I know that often there can be two or three games on at one time...). I'm a big fan of the wood floors and the brick used on the walls... but not necessarily the light fixture over the pool table...

I also believe that "man caves" don't always have to be reserved for those who enjoy drinking beers and watching movies and sports...

I know that all of the men in my life (B, my Dad, B's Dad, my brother...) would all appreciate an outdoor kitchen like this one! A great place to get their grill on and entertain at the same time.

If you're man is more of the handy type - how about giving him a man cave in the garage? I know B would appreciate a separate space to not only work, but to have the game playing while working on whatever he chooses to in his garage! I'd love to give him something like this one day.... when we don't have a garage full of projects that I want to work on.

But of course... I think all of us ladies kind of hope our man would be happy with a nice sophisticated office for his "man cave"...

Does the man in your life have his own space to escape to? What does he call his man cave? Is it a sophisticated space you are happy to have in your home... or does is closely resemble it's namesake?

  2. Sean does have a man cave. Its called the garage :) Actually its pretty neat and organized and he spends tons of time out there so it works well for both of us. I don't know if I could handle such a masculine space inside the house...I'd be tempted to pretty it up!

  3. Have you seen any of the photos of the riots in Vancouver over the game last night? I am incredibly disappointed in the maturity level of my fellow Canadians...

Our house doesn't have the space for a 'man cave' and we've never really been the types to separate our space like that. One day, when we have a bigger home, perhaps we'll consider our own spaces.

  4. No man caves over here. Basement is under water half the time and toys abound throughout the rest of the house. He can doll up the 94 Honda Accord if he wants though! By the way the nursery looks great!

  5. Love the pictures! My BF is planning is man cave but I want to see if we get water in the basement first. He's planning half TV room half work area.

Woohoooooo Boston! I am so proud of my fellow Bostonians for not ripping apart our city. I guess we're so spoiled by now, but seriously, they were shipping full bus loads of riot cops around to prevent mayhem.

  7. Our basement is supposed to be the "man cave" but it is really just used to store STUFF and collects unwanted things. Hopefully when we move to our next house we will have a garage, I think that my hubby would love to have his man cave in a garage (I wouldn't mind it either)

  9. what a crazy final series that was, eh? i was also cheering for the canucks but in the end it doesn't really matter to me. i cannot wait to give my man a place of his own, but i'm truly hoping the entire feel of our house makes him feel comfortable enough to not really require a space like this. though that outdoor one you posted is pretty unreal :)xo

  10. ah, since the kids are getting older they have taken over his video game space :) but we are planning a new office for him right now. I picture something like the second one you chose, and he's is talking about hanging up his hockey jerseys, lol.
