Weekend Shopping

So this was the big weekend... that included a big fat shopping trip to buy everything we need for our front entry renovation. It was a long 3.5 hours inside of one Lowes store, but we pretty much scratched everything off of our list and cannot wait to get this renovation under way. B's hoping that he can bang it out over 5 days with a little help from my Dad and a friend or two. Here's a small photo montage of our trip (mind the quality, all I had with me was my Blackberry....)

B making decisions for the front deck
B making decisions on the Trek decking
I got bored real fast when it came to choosing lumber and screws... I managed to entertain myself with an old copy of Elle Decor they had kicking around this end of the aisle
B consulting the list after about 3 hours of shopping... we were both ready to go by this point (and absolutely starving)....
Just a look at the stuff we took home with us after the trip
That last photo is extremely misleading. This was actually a very successful (and large) shopping trip that resulted in spending a lot of money. All of the larger items like doors, lumber and other necessary pieces are on order and will be delivered to our house when we are ready to begin.

It was a little hard to hand over the credit card after all of it, but it was buffered slightly by the fact that we have no interest or payments for 12 months on our Lowes card. We know we'll have no problem paying it off over the next year, and our bank account thanks us for that.

We're both very excited to get this project rolling (and completed), and of course I cannot wait to share the transformation with all of you! Now, are we the only ones crazy enough to take on a renovation outdoors at this time of the year? Anyone else ready to tackle something large? We'd love to hear from other die hard DIYers like ourselves, so spill!

  1. Wow! Congrats on the big shopping trip Kerry! I don't think it's that crazy to be doing an outdoor project at this time of year. Ya, you might be cold when you start out, but with all that hard work, you'll be sweating in no time! Much better than doing it in the summer.

And I cannot wait to see how it turns out!
