Designer Love - Tammy Connor

It's been a bit since I've done a post on a fabulous designer. So, the other week when I stumbled across this drool worthy post over on The Cottage Mix, I knew my next one had to focus on the work of Tammy Connor. Each of the spaces below have the perfect coastal feel, without being too obvious in decor choices. The neutral paint colours and the textures used in each space bring the right amount of warmth. I'll take one of each please!

I would have to say that out of all of the designers that I have featured on here, Tammy Connor does the best at nailing my style right on the head! Laid back with that beachy kind of feel.

Designer Love - SFA Design

Happy Monday! What a fabulous weekend spent with some great girls, celebrating my soon to be sister-in-law (even though I already consider her a sister anyway...). Since I was away all weekend, with little to no time to jump on any projects here at home, I decided to share some designer inspiration with you on this Monday morning. Today's designer love is for SFA Design, who I discovered via this post on House of Turquoise last week.

The above space is perfection. In an ideal world, I'd like to try and get our living room more airy and beachy looking like this. The artwork in the background is absolutely stunning!

sfa design via house of turquoise2

Another great space - simple and uncluttered. That faux fireplace adds the perfect focal point to the room. I wouldn't mind curling up in one of those armchairs with my laptop and a cup of tea to do some blogging!

sfa design via house of turquoise3

I don't think much needs to be said about this space. We all know I'm a fan of round dining tables and the colours are perfect.

sfa design via house of turquoise4

What a great bedroom to kick back and relax in after a long day... or maybe even the most perfectly inviting guest room? Though I may have considered roman blinds for those windows?

These two spaces are fabulous. I can see a family gathering here for weekend breakfasts and uick week night dinners. Kids doing homework in that small seating area, while Mom makes dinner in the kitchen. I personally, would be happy sitting back on that couch on a Saturday morning while everyone else is still sleeping and enjoying a hot tea while flipping through my shelter mags, which are currently not getting much attention...

I love the beachy feel of each and every single one of these rooms. They're all so calming and laid back and I absolutely adore them. Which room do you love the most?

New Designer Picks - Manny Machado

Monday again! My weekend flew by, but it was so great and I hope you all enjoyed yours as well. I'll check back in later today with a little weekend recap for those that need to know a little about the bachelorette party and how Halle handled our first overnight separation.

In the mean time, I have some wonderful shopping news for you. This morning HomeSav will be launching another Designer Picks event at 10:30am, and will run until this Friday. You'll have to check this one out.

The second designer taking part in this fun online shopping event is Toronto based designer Manny Machado.

Manny's Headshot

Manny's focus is on urban spaces, such as condo's and lofts, and even designs and sells a line of luxury Murphy beds that are custom made for each home. Very cool. For this event Manny has curated a variety of products that you'll need to be sure to head on over and check out. Everything from cool lounge chairs, botanical wall paper and other beautiful furniture!

So make sure to head on over to check the sale out, and if you aren't already a member of HomeSav, be sure to sign up. They always have a ton of great deals on fabulous products, and you won't want to miss them! Happy Shopping!

Designer Love - Janie Hirsch

With B's sister visiting over the weekend, there wasn't much time to work on  any projects, so today I'm sharing another designer that I've stumbled across and loved. Today's designer is Janie Hirsch from J. Hirsch Interior Design. I found her while catching up on some blog reading and seeing this post on interior design musings last week.

Janie Hirsch1

Janie Hirsch2

The kitchen and dining room above are both from the same project, and I adore them. Love the light blue against the dark cabinetry in the kitchen. Perfect contrast!

Janie Hirsch3

Summer may be slipping away, but this backyard would also be a great place to gather with great friends on a crisp fall evening with some cozy blankets and warm drinks. Hot apple cider anyone?

Janie Hirsch4

The whole bathroom above is incredible, but the best part has to be that the vanities are completely separated. There would be no invasion of space, no one else's stuff ending up on your side and, my biggest pet peeve, no one else's water splashes to clean up.

Janie Hirsch5

All I can say about this staircase landing is, what an incredible use of otherwise wasted space (plus those floors are beautiful).

Janie Hirsch6

I would be thrilled if our kitchen could look like this one day. It's the perfect combination of rustic and modern for my taste. Saving this one to my personal inspiration files.

Have you come across any inspiring designers recently that we need to know about?

Online Shopping - Designer Picks

I was hoping to share a new project with you today, however, it's taking a little longer than planned (I guess most things do when you have a baby, huh?). So, you'll have to come back on Monday to see what I've been up to.

Today, instead, I want to share with you a new monthly sales event that is being introduced by HomeSav... TODAY! These monthly Designer Picks events will feature a selection of products and brands, that will be selected by a guest designer.

Today's guest designer is Karl Lohnes, whose collection is focused on Autumn trends (fitting after my post from yesterday), and must-haves for 2011. I'm pretty excited by the colours he's picked - here's a sneak peek for you...

homesav

Adore this sofa and it's shape! Wish it was in our budget to purchase a beautiful new sofa...

Designer Love - Eileen Marcuvitz

Recently I stumbled across another super talented designer, Eileen Marcuvitz of Plum Interiors, thanks to one of my favourite blogs - House of Turquoise. You may already be familiar with her stunning work, but when I saw her portfolio, I just knew I had to share it (as well as keep this inspiration readily available to myself of course).

eileen marcuvitz via house of turquoise3

I'm pretty sure that my jaw hit the floor when I saw the kitchen! So perfect! The light floors, walls and cupboard - grounded by the dark countertops and chairs. All of the natural light is so dreamy - I wish we could get that kind of light in our kitchen... next home!

sitting room

A lovely warm sitting room, with fantastically huge windows! What's not too love? The high backs on the sofa and upholstered chairs are so welcoming, and the corset details on the wooden chairs is so charming and feminine. A great place for a group of girl friends to sit back with some drinks.

Bedroom

Love this serene bedroom. Soft, soothing colours and flowing curtains. I'm also a fan of how they carried they curtain rod around the room and used it to hang the artwork as well.

Blue Bedroom

Another gorgeous bedroom, and this one I adore even more. I prefer the bold blues in this space, next to the softer colours... and how lovely does soft area rug look? Yes, I would take this bedroom in a heartbeat (and would like to have a solid night's sleep with it as well please)!

35-Cullion_R.I.Residence_2636-Cullion_R.I.Residence_27

With a bathroom renovation on the horizon for us, I was of course drawn to these two gorgeous spaces. I only wish ours would look as big and bright as that first space, with room for a freestanding tub and a separate shower, but we'll just have to work with what little space we have. As for that second room, B and I both adored the cabinetry. B in particular has been talking about adding that type of storage to our space... so we'll see how that works out for us! Regardless, both of these spaces are just positively dreamy.

Designer Love - Jarlath Mellett

Today I have another fabulous designer to share with you - Jarlath Mellett, who I first discovered after this post that appeared on desire to inspire.

One of my favorite projects has to be this one, where the details really make the whole thing pop!

Jarlath Mellett Dining Room

When I saw this dining room above I loved it. It's so simple, but with the colour on those chairs and that stunning chandelier, you don't need much more in this room. I loved that Dominic Bromley light fixture from the moment I saw it in that photo... but then I saw this photo...

Chnadelier

... and decided I must have one for myself at some point in my life. Seriously incredible!

Also great in this home... how about the upstairs hallway?

Jarlath Mellett Hallway

Love the contrast of not only the dark and light, but also the horizontal and vertical stripes. They take what could essentially be a tired, boring white hallway and really bring it to life!

Also crushing on this bedroom below, again, mostly for the lovely lighting fixture (B has recently pointed out my obsession with lighting. I simply explained it's because the perfect light fixture can dramatically change the whole look of a room... plus, we all know lighting is SO important in every single room of the house!).

Jarlath Mellett Bedroom2

But really, another thing I noticed about the above home, is the neutral rooms with hits of colour. From our own home, it's pretty obvious that this is exactly the way I like to roll!

Must say, I'm also a huge fan of this farmhouse located in Amagansett, NY... and it's not hard to guess why...

Jarlath Mellett Living Room Dining Room

What isn't there to love about this open living/dining space? Those ceilings! The built-in's! All of that natural light! That giant dining table and those gorgeous chairs! I'll take ALL OF IT!

Jarlath Mellett Dining Room

The relaxed nautical feel to this dining space is exactly my taste! Love the scale of the light fixture, and that fantastic red Atlantic sign in the next room. Perfection!

Speaking of perfection... check out the bedrooms in this place...

Jarlath Mellett Bedroom3

That last one has to be my favorite. With all of those shades of blue, and the fabulous use of typography on the wall. So fun for a kids room at a summer home.

Lastly... check out the gorgeous yard...

Jarlath Mellett Yard

Jarlath Mellett Yard2

Yup, I have some serious backyard envy going on... along with a very strong desire to have a gorgeous summer home like this to escape to. This is only just a small peek at the loveliness that is the portfolio of Jarlath Mellett... so be sure to head on over and drool over more gorgeous photos.

What do you love most about these homes?

We All Love Her...

Sarah Richardson. I know you all do, so don't pretend like you don't. Her designs are fabulous, and I'm pretty sure most of us would be happy to have her design a room in our home. Well, here's your chance (GTA readers - sorry everyone else)!

sarah-101-2

Sarah is currently casting for Season 2 of Sarah 101! To find out more, you can head on over here! For those of you who have been living under a rock, you can head on over here to see all of the rooms that Sarah transformed into stunning spaces during Season 1!

Would love to hear if any of my readers responded to the casting call and if they made it. So very exciting - and good luck to those that are submitting their spaces!

Designer Love - Alexandra Angle

So... we've made it to week 40. Yup - due date is here and not a baby in sight. I know there is no need to be surprised, but a girl can always hope that a baby will come early. While I rest up and enjoy my last few days of life before baby, I have a wonderful designer to share today.

In particular, I want to share my love of the designer Alexandra Angle. The company was founded in 1999 by Alexandra and Eliot Angle and I love the beautiful rooms that they pull together. BUT, rather than rambling on about the things you can read online... I'll show you some of their stunning work to reinforce their talent!

fireisland bathroom

Love the neutral rooms above with their bright pops of colour. All three rooms come from the same project, and I adore those striped floors! I think it's great that they are carried into the different rooms, and that they make what could essentially be a "boring space" so fresh! The painted shelving adds to the fun, especially those bold red shelves in the kitchen!

I absolutely love this Cape Breton Home that was featured in the June 2009 issue of Canadian House and Home. I actually ripped out the full feature and saved it in one of my inspiration binders under "Beautiful Homes"...

capebreton living

First off, the views are stunning. Second, love the clean lines of that seating bench next to the fluid lines of those beautiful chairs. They make this island home feel just the right amount of modern, while still feeling like a cottage escape. The use of colour on that seating bench is perfect next to that view - I can imagine it would compliment the scenery at any time of day during absolutely any season!

capebreton kitchen

The kitchen gives the samel feel with it's extremely modern lighting fixtures over a traditional style dining table. The open shelving makes it feel a little more traditional, and also allows the home owners to put some seriously beautiful pieces on display.

capebreton bathroom

The bathroom is just minimal perfection. The colours are perfect for a view like that. There really isn't much else that needs to be said.

This Hollywood Hills home shows a completely different side of their design style, incorporating a lot more traditional style and warmer tones.

hollywoodhills living

hollywoodhills dining

Seriously traditional feeling rooms! A complete departure from those first two projects, no? Love the use of that bright and cheery yellow in the dining room... and of course, the round table!

hollywoodhills entry

This entryway is by far my favorite. It takes someone with true vision to see tiles like that and know how to make them work. And how about that door colour? The perfect pop of colour!

Those are just a few of my favorite rooms from a few of their projects. If you've fallen in love with their work as much as I have, head on over to check out their portfolio yourself. I'm sure you'll recognize at least a couple of their projects that have made their rounds in the blogosphere, and shelter mags. What are your thoughts on these diverse spaces?

Designer Love - Jennifer Delonge

When I stumbled across the website for designer Jennifer Delonge, I just knew I had to share her talent with my readers! Jennifer is a fantastic interior and furniture designer, whose focus is on the modern family. Her rooms, furniture and accessories are stylish and fun, as well as being functional for today's family... this is what spoke to me most about her. I could happily put every single piece she designs into our home!

Check out some of her gorgeous rooms...

Loving the simplicity of the dining room above. The armless wing backs are perfect for the heads of the table and really ground the space, which is otherwise light and airy. They also bring the perfect balance to the table, since the table and remaining chairs all sit at the same, low height. It's absolute perfection in my opinion.

How about that gallery wall? I love that she took it from floor to ceiling, and that the windows are incorporated into the design. My guess is that this wall resides in a basement... aren't those great basement windows? I wish ours looked like that! Of course, I also have some serious love for the tulip table and oversized floor lamp.

You may be able to guess that this is the room that lead me to Jennifers website and her portfolio. I love how big and bright this nursery is! The modern clean lines of that crib are exactly what I want for our peanuts nursery, and that day bed is fabulous in both shape and pattern!

PERFECTION! What else can I say? The Eames chair... the Union Jack, the lucite table, the glass lamp with coral inside. Really, this space could be a great bachelor apartment, or a young couples condo in the city. Pretty versatile if you ask me!

So yes, I cannot hide the fact that I love Jennifer's design style... which means, I also need to share with you some of the beautiful furniture pieces that she creates (and guess what!? You can purchase her pieces on allmodern.com!)

As soon as I saw the glider below... I knew I wanted it for the peanuts nursery...

It's called the Daddy Glider and I love the lines of it! There is a wide variety of fabric options to choose from... so many that I'm not actually sure what colour or pattern I would choose!

Of course, since she caters to the whole family, she does not only have some gorgeous gliders, but also some seriously beautiful children's pieces! Look at these...

Yes, I have a serious designer crush on this lady! Thank you Jennifer... for designing such beautiful and inspiring rooms and pieces!

If you love Jennifer as much as I do (or want to buy me the Daddy Glider and Ottoman) you can find out where to purchase her pieces right here!
