George Square
We made a short visit to the Museum of Modern Art. While we enjoyed the art work, the architecture and detail on the first floor was my favourite part.
The streets around our hotel (Fraser Suites Glasgow, the building on the left in the top left photo) were great to stroll around as well. We were staying in Merchant City which was filled with wonderful restaurants and bars. We couldn't have asked for a better location for the two of us.
On our first night in Glasgow we also took a short walk down to Glasgow Green before our dinner reservation. It was nice to have such a beautiful park so close to our hotel.
We picked up the pace starting the second day. Our late morning started with a walk over to Glasgow Cathedral and the Necropolis (an old Victorian cemetery). In the afternoon we joined the local crowd and caught the subway to Ibrox Stadium to watch the Rangers play East Fife. The final score was 5 - 0, so it was a game worth going to see indeed.
Restoration work was underway for this +800 year old building

Seems like a lot for our first 24 hours in Glasgow right? We were so lucky that the trip did not seem to fly by too quickly for us. Each moment was enjoyed and soaked up, since we knew it wouldn't be long before we returned to reality. We did so much more in Glasgow before we visited our next city, so come back tomorrow to see more of our time in Glasgow!
Aw, I spent a year in Glasgow as an exchange student in university, and these photos make me incredibly nostalgic! It may not be the most beautiful city in the world, but it has an amazing character. I miss it every day.
