Recent Explorations

Things have been busy around here the last couple of weeks with B's parents visiting. We made sure to spend lots of time visiting some favourite spots from their last trip, as well as discovering some new one's. I thought today would be a good opportunity to share some of what we've been up to (more Halloween to come next week, including Halle's costume I made for her!)

On our visitors first full day here, I took them to Steveston Village for lunch and to walk around. We always love just exploring, and it's a great place to grab some fish right off the boats. The fishermen got a kick out of Halle being the same size as one of their Tuna, but in the end we left with a nice Black Rockfish - absolutely delicious.

Last week we did a few more small day trips. One afternoon we took a little girls trip, just myself, Halle and B's Mom, out to Harrison. We just drove, taking in all of the beautiful views on a sunny day and stopped at a little farm for an ice cream treat! It was such a lovely afternoon! Also, Halle's hair grows so fast! I need to take her for another hair cut soon! Geez...

More than anything, while B's parents visited we enjoyed just being outside doing little things and enjoying the weather. In particular, afternoons at the local park playing in the sandbox and a leisurely lunch at a farm in Abbotsford on a sunny Friday afternoon.

Then, on Saturday we made a much longer trip. We left early stopping for breakfast in Mount Vernon Washington before making our way into Seattle. We spent a lot of time strolling around Pike Place Market, where we picked up some fruit to snack on. It was a nice day for it, the market was not as busy as I expected for a Saturday!

Sunday we reserved for a trip to the Pumpkin Patch. We picked a place that came pretty highly rated, but actually ended up a little disappointed. I think both B and I wished we had gone back to the place we visited last year... but at least now we know, and we do have pumpkins. We just need to find the time to carve them.

Halle's favourite part was our trip to Tracycakes where she got her very own baby cake and mug of milk. Lucky girl...

We loved every second of having B's parents visit. Halle loved having play time, story time and craft time with her grandparents, and for me it's like a bit of a vacation not being a solo parent all day. They are always such a big help around here when they come and we always have so much fun!

What have you been up to recently? Any travels, explorations or day trips going on? Has your weather been as lovely as ours? I feel like it's the beginning of summer over here!
