Taking In The Sights

Since yesterday I shared how the first three days of our trip out west went, I figured today I'd share the sights we took in. Get ready for another picture heavy post.

Since on the Saturday we'd found the rental we wanted, Sunday we dedicated to taking in some of the lovely sights Vancouver has to offer. We were thrilled to be blessed with another gorgeous, sunny day and knew we'd have to take full advantage. So, after breakfast and Halle's morning nap, we ventured out...

Our first stop was... a mall down the street. Yes, it had to be done! I've been dying to try Beard Papa's Cream Puffs since I was pregnant with Halle. Since I never made it to their Toronto location, this was the time... and yes, it was delicious!

Our next stop was Granville Island for a little stroll and some (proper) lunch...

{yes... B was brave and sported his Bruins gear all over the city...}

By this point Halle was hungry and tired again, so we headed to the car where she promptly fell asleep. So what do you do when you have a slumbering baby in the car? Head to Stanley Park for a drive, and to take in more stunning views...

Gorgeous, right? Also exhausting. The day wasn't over yet though. We headed back to the hotel to get freshened up, and then headed to Steveston Village again, for our reservations at Hog Shack. Delicious BBQ - so glad I found this place...

{My sides of choice were baked beans, and cheesy corn! Seriously - cheesy corn, where have you been all of my life? It's like cream corn and mac n' cheese had a kid!}

After a dinner like that... more walking definitely needed to happen!

And a little bit of coffee drinking, as the weather had cooled off quite a bit...

After our visit to Steveston Village, we called it a night. We had another busy day planned for Monday. After breakfast, we all stopped into B's office together to take care of a few things pertaining to our rental, and B also had to have a chat about his relocation agreement. Afterwards, we were off for a family afternoon of fun - at the Vancouver Aquarium...

Our little girl loved it! She was so interested in all of the animals, and of course many of them got her squeals and smiles. All of the excitement of her afternoon exhausted her, so as soon as we got into the car she was out cold. With more time to drive around and take in some sights, we decided to take a drive over the Lion's Gate bridge. However, due to the overcast skies - there wasn't much "viewing" of anything going on...

The next couple of days were filled with me and Halle just exploring the area... and by exploring, I really mean shopping. After a beautiful weekend, it was back to usual old BC weather, with a lot of clouds and drizzly rain. We didn't mind too much though.

Later in the week, we got B off work a little early, so we decided to venture out again, this time to Lonsdale Quay. And so, we began our trek...

And finally, we arrived...

{Yes... that is one of Halle's socks on the ground. She hates keeping them on. B is also aware that he looks like a UPS delivery man...}

Since B was working most of our trip, this was all of the sightseeing was managed to squeeze in. Not bad considering. Of course, we also wanted to save some stuff for when we move out there as well. I am so looking forward to heading back out West - not long either. B's official start date on sight is April 23rd, and we already have the keys to our rental - so I'm kicking it into high gear around these parts this week - purging like never before and getting pictures taken for the real estate agent.

Have you ever been to the West Coast? What are some of your tips for Vancouver, Washington, Oregon, etc!? We plan on visiting them all at some point so any and all suggestions are welcome!

  2. Aw, I love sleeping baby photos! Looks like you guys had a great time out there. Reminds me so much of our vacation there last summer. I love most everything about Vancouver but especially the beaches. Nothing beats hanging out, toes in the sand, after the workday is done. Good luck with the packing up!
