The wall is not completely exposed to outside, but it definitely get's drafty back there - so down came that wall and up went some more insulation.
With insulation up, next came the vapour barrier - followed by the drywall on our exterior wall (the one with our brand new window). Do I sound like a huge nerd if I admit that seeing that drywall go up, excited me!? Well, it did. What excited me even more, was when they built the platform for our new tub.
If I hadn't been busy with Halle, I'm sure I would've spent more time following along with more details of B finishing the support for our tub, and getting the plumbing ready for the shower and sink. Regardless, B got it all done and we're just about ready for the cement board and more drywall to go up... maybe this weekend?
To the left of the tub you'll see a shorter wall. We did this so that we weren't blocking natural light from the tub enclosure. A piece of glass will top that wall off, and there will be a small ledge for us to keep shower essentials. The space on the opposite side of that wall will have shelving for extra storage (something we never had in the bathroom before).
I've loved watching our bathroom come together, and hope that I can be more useful once we get to the tiling and painting portion of the reno.
Anyone else have any renovation or redecoration projects underway to start off their new year?
It's looking great Kerry, I can't wait to see the finishes you've chosen!
ReplyDeleteI'm always so impressed when people DIY stuff like this! Good job! Looking forward to the reveal - good luck :)
ReplyDeleteCement board going up would excite me so so so much, so I guess I'm a nerd, too. :P
ReplyDeleteLOL we had the same extra demo to do as we determined we needed to tear down some more drywall in our two bathroom remodels. You could have gotten away with not using vapor barrier behind the cement board if you used something like Kerdi over the cement board. It is a vapor barrier and waterproofing membrane. Have you guys considered using something like that?
ReplyDeleteI'm sighing with happiness reading about bathroom renovations for some reason - I lust for a bathtub. Yep... definitely do! Although we've made do with a baby bath and then a non-slip mat in the shower once our son learnt to sit up on his own, it'd be great to give him a proper bathing every now and again (and I'd like a soak too! :D)
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous. I would love to renovate our master bathroom. Perhaps I'll add that to my resolution list. Great post. :)

Love the way you've worked around the window, Kerry. Your house is going to be a stunner from tip to toe soon!
ReplyDeleteLooking good!!
ReplyDeleteI love the window idea and a place to put bath essentials is always a must. I don't have anywhere to put them in my shower and it is really inconvenient.
What I prefer to advise is you rather improve your normal activities like walking
ReplyDeleteby about ten to 15%. In addition, it possesses thermogenic effects that assist to raise
the body's general rate of metabolism. This is usually a fantastic sign as companies don't usually
manage to live in business for too much time if their product and customer satisfaction is of low quality.
