Awards!

Late day post today. Halle and I have been busy.... with lots of Mommy and Halle time! Sorry, I'm so late jumping on this - but over the past couple weeks I've been gifted some lovely awards by some fabulous bloggers (I've had a hard time keeping up with blog reading and writing, so I apologize if you passed on an award and I missed it). 

The Versatile blogger award was one that was passed on from Meg, Jen, Shannon and Beatrice! Thank you so much ladies. Here's 7 Things about me that you may not know (I had a hard time coming up with 7, so don't expect anything too exciting to be revealed haha)...


1. My educational background is actually in Communications. I went to school in Ottawa at Carleton for four years. I loved my program, my teachers and the friends I made there... and I really loved the city. I miss it, and always love going back to visit.


2. I was never sure if I wanted to be a Mom, and was never very maternal. Then, around this time last year we were blessed with the incredible news that I was pregnant! It's been a journey, tough at times, but worth it. Being a Mommy to Halle is the greatest, and I look forward to every new day with her.

3. I have two tattoos. A copyright on my back, with my birth year and "Libra" on my left hip. I'm positive there are more to come.


4. Before I decided to go back to school for interior decorating, I'd spent some time considering going to school for photography. I still love photography, and I'm learning more everyday on how to use my camera and improve the photos I take... I'm just not sure that I could do it for a living....


5. I despise clutter, and usually purge different rooms in our home numerous times a month. I try to live by the motto, live with what you love. I think paying more for quality, is best... and I definitely don't want Halle to grow up thinking that "things" and "stuff" are the most important things in life.


6. I am not a very good cook. even with me being at home with Halle all day, dinner often falls to B. Embarrassing, but thankfully he enjoys cooking... I don't, and I'm not very inspired, but I am working on it.


7. ... and, at least you got 6 outta me! I'm surprised I did that well! hahaha...


I'm pretty sure by now, most of the blogs I read have been gifted this award, so I'd like to pass it on to any of my blogging pals who may not have received this one yet. The stage is yours!

Signs of Spring

First off, thank you all so much for your sweet comments on our dresser yesterday! We're both so thrilled with the outcome, and it's exactly what I had pictured for our little girls nursery! So thank you for you stopping by, checking it out and taking the time to leave such nice comments. 


Today, I am taking a little break from the nursery. I have a few more updates to share this week, but wanted to take a chance to head outside and show you what's been popping up in our garden... mostly the front since our backyard is an absolute mess.


For those of you in the GTA, we all know that spring was a little late showing up, so as flowers start to bloom in our garden I'm getting more and more excited. Here's what's been sprouting in our new garden by our front deck...

... we also have a some tulips pushing through the soil by our dogwood on the front lawn...

It's so nice to come home to our nicely finished front entry, with blooms popping up through the ground... and some pretty little buds showing up on our dogwood as well! I can't wait until it's covered in all of those gorgeous pink flowers!

Oh yes... and that would be our new ride parked in the driveway. We'd only had B's work truck for a while, which only had one bench in it, so we needed something that we could safely transport baby in. We opted for the 2011 Hyundai Sonata... and we love it!

Speaking of signs of spring, B and I attended a lovely spring wedding this past weekend and were able to get a picture of the two of us (and the peanut) in front of my parents magnolia. Another tree I cannot wait to see in full bloom...

You Love Me!

So, I'm a little slow on this one, but I was given the Stylish Blogger Award by the stunning Michaela (um... a month ago), laxsupermom over at Sugar & Spice in the land of Balls & Sticks (last week) and Hilary from My So-Called Home (yesterday). Thank you so much ladies - so very sweet of you!

Let's see if I can come up with 7 things that you may not know about me yet (without overlapping on a similar post I did previously for a different award)...

1. My first pet was a three legged siamese cat. He was like my baby, and sometimes I still get teary-eyed when I think about the day we had to put him down. I actually rushed home from Ottawa to be at home with my family and say good-bye to him. I still miss him to this very day.

2. I swore I would hold off on buying maternity clothes as long as possible... then the other weekend my friend who works at a mat store took me shopping. Ever since buying my black dress pants for work with the belly panel... I'm in love... and I find it so strange.

3. I was not a football fan at all until I started dating B. He was the only person patient enough who took the time to explain the game to me. It eventually made sense, and though I don't watch every single week, I do enjoy watching games with him now. I'm thankful that we can enjoy one of his passions together.

4. I'm not a huge girly girl who watches award shows, fashion, etc. I'm never really on top of the latest trends, I really just like to buy things that look nice, that are comfortable and that suit my personality and my body type. 

5. I'm constantly dreaming of a new place to jet set off to... even if we don't have the money... or the time in the near future. The next big destination on my list has to be Scotland to visit my girlfriend Sharon... I've been promising her I'd go for years, so I need to make this happen!

6. When I was younger I always wished I had a bigger family... more brothers and sisters. Now that I'm older I realize that all of my friends are just as great as having siblings... and I got to CHOOSE them! My friends are just as much a part of my family as B, my parents and my brother. I love them!

7. Stepping out of what this award calls for, I'm reserving #7 to ask all of you what you want to know about me! Ask any questions in the comments below, and I'll answer them all the best that I can in a future post.
