So with that in mind, I turn to you. I must ask...
- What kind of organization do you find most helpful on your own blog?
- How do you break up and organize your blog content? (i.e. DIY projects, before and afters, etc.)
Of course, I also have some important questions in regard to content. With a wee one on the way, I'm sure everyone knows there will be some content about tiny people - however, I in no way intend to stray away from what I originally wanted this blog to be about when I started it almost 2 years ago. I'd like to stick with my design/decor/DIY theme... and continue to throw in some of the more personal content you see here and there.
- What would you like to see more of around here? What will keep you coming back?
Any and all advice from my blogging friends would be greatly appreciated. I think it's part of my nesting instinct but I'd like to take care of and organize this little blog while we continue to do so on the home front!
Also, as I make changes to the blog, my little blog rolls will be getting a refresh with some blogs that I read every day and have never added... If I'm missing you from this list and you know it, leave me a comment and I'd be glad to add your little blog to my blog roll! :)
Don't forget, if you missed it, make sure to enter my Ramsign giveaway for a chance to win one of their custom Porcelin Enamel signs! Find out how right here!
I would definitely start with seeing what you can come up with yourself... I know that when I did your blog layout, Blogger didn't have the "Design" capabilities it does now... so I would start by playing around with the layout/background/header design in there... {but be careful, it might delete some of your widgets, so it's a good idea to back those up}...
ReplyDeleteI would also make use of the "Pages" feature that blogger has now... perhaps move all your favourite blog links to a page... and I would do an "About Us" page...
As for content... I think you have a great balance of design/diy/home blogging and real life... I like when you pop in every once and a a while and share something about little peanut, or your brother, or your in-laws... and of course who doesn't love your giveaways! ;)
Hope this helps and leads you in a happy direction! If you need help again with your layout just give me a shout!
I know what you mean about wanting to organize the blog... I feel the same way about mine! My blog roll is completely out of control right now, need to do something about it. I like the idea of adding 'pages' for some of your categories. They are a good way to highlight your best stuff.
ReplyDeletepages are super helpful! i did a days of the week outline so that each monday i know what i'll be posting (when i blog that is). i just popped in for a quick read, so i'll email you some more answers from home tonight xo
ReplyDeleteI wish I was more Wordpress/web friendly so I could tweak and update my blog more confidently! Look forward to hearing other's opinions, and seeing what you do!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback and suggestions ladies! I've already begun to make some changes behind the scenes that I'll "make live" over the next little bit! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm all about simple! I find if there's too much going on on a blog I usually navigate away. Yours has a great clean look to it now, so I wouldn't stray too far from that. I like the idea of pages too, has a nice organized feel - like file folders!
ReplyDeleteAs for content, keep up the good work! I'm all about variety. Personal, DIY, decor - I want it all. And, of course, I want updates of little baby girl!! Good luck with the redesign, Kerry.
I am feeling the same way girly!! It is just such a daunting process:) I think yours is great!
ReplyDeleteI think you have such a good balance on your blog. I always like personal posts mixed in with the design and decor. I think less is more on a page but that's just me.
ReplyDeleteI'd love it if you added my blog to your blog roll. I should add yours too! My blog roll is in need of an update these days too.
